Using Content Multiple Ways!
Today's post came about because I was giving my newsletter peeps ideas about how they could actually use their marketing work in different ways, saving time and sometimes money!
And I asked them if they wanted to learn more and get a free worksheet and they said YES! So here we go…
What Is Content?
First off, let's talk about what your marketing content is! Here are a few examples to get your wheels turning (mostly from easiest to hardest):
- An article written by someone else that supports your business
- A picture that represents your business
- A blog post
- A video of your work process
- An ebook you wrote on a topic
- A course
Ways To Use Your Content
Now I am going to take each of those and break down how you can use each to make a ton more content!
An Article Written By Someone Else About Your Business
Okay, this one seems like cheating! You don't even have to write anything, just talk about it? YES!!!
Now, this is not finding an article and posting a link on social. This is about telling your peeps why and how you you discovered this topic and what you think.
Once you have an article you can:
- Post it on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn with a message about its content and how that dovetails with your work
- Send it out in your email newsletter with your take on the info
- Do a “reaction video” to the content and post it on YouTube (a reaction video is where you go point by point and talk about what the article says)
- Base a blog post on the idea in the article and cite it as your source of inspiration
Realtor tip… just for my real estate friends, you can do this with the daily hot sheet listings. Talk about what new homes came on the market or went under contract each day.
A Picture Representing Your Business
Okay, let's talk a wee bit about pictures before we dive into this. There are a million free stock photo sites, and thousands of paid photo sites, and everyone uses those.
So if you can take a picture of what you are working on today, or yourself working, you will be different and more interesting. When you can take your own pictures.
Once you have a picture you can:
- Post it on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn with a message about your business
- Add it to your email newsletter showing what you do
- Email individual prospects with a customized message
- Use it in your intro bio for an ebook
A Blog Post
This is my jam, so I have a super detailed list for this one (and yes I tend to do all these things for each blog post I write!)
- Make social media posts with a picture for Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter
- Make 6 picture posts to put on Pinterest
- Make 6 video posts to put on Pinterest
- Make a video about the topic to put on YouTube (link back to your post)
- Email your article out to your newsletter list at least a couple of times
A Video
Making video is so much easier now! You can just pop open your iPhone and start recording. It doesn't have to be long, it can be just a quick video including you or the work you are doing that day.
Or you can do a “screencast” video where you don't even have to be on the video, you just talk about whatever is going on!
- Put your video on YouTube
- Upload it directly to Facebook
- Share to relevant Facebook Groups
- Add it to a blog post
- Send a link to your YouTube video out in your email newsletter
- Include it as bonus content in your ebook
An Ebook
You can write an ebook to give away for free as a gift for newsletter signups or to sell on your site or Amazon.
The nice thing about an ebook is that you have SO MANY ways to promote it!
- Send an email to your list about the topic of each chapter
- Post on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn with a message about your ebook
- Do at least 6 Pinterest posts about it
- Make at least 6 Pinterest video posts about it
- Email it as the answer to questions from you peeps
- Give away a free chapter as your newsletter signup
A Course
A course is like an ebook on steriods! You can take all the pieces and parts of it and slice it up to promote the different pieces.
- Write a blog post about each topic and link to your course
- Give away a free module for signing up to your email list
- Offer a discount to your course on holidays
- Post on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn with a message about your course (you can do this for each internal topic of it!)
- Do at least 6 Pinterest posts about it
- Make at least 6 Pinterest video posts about it
