11 Ways Good Hosting Helps You Grow Traffic, Make Money & Stress Less

Let me take you back to 2009. I had just started blogging, wide-eyed and thrilled to share All The Things. Like many newbies, I went with the cheapest hosting I could find (hi GoDaddy!) because, well, budget.

And for the first 100 posts or so, that was FINE. I wasn’t swimming in traffic yet, and my site wasn’t exactly a beast. But as time ticked on and my audience grew, I ran smack dab into a wall: my hosting just couldn't keep up. Spoiler alert—hosting matters. A LOT!

If you're serious about turning your blog into a business (or at least a solid side hustle), here's why you can't afford to skimp on hosting....

11 Ways Good Hosting Helps You Grow Traffic, Make Money & Stress Less

1. Your Hosting Is the Foundation of Your Blog Empire

Think of hosting as the land your blog house is built on. If that land is shaky, unstable, or constantly flooding, it doesn’t matter how gorgeous your blog design is—everything is going to crumble. Good hosting gives your site the stability it needs to grow!

2. Cheap Hosting Is Fine… Until It’s Not

Sure, you can grab a sweet deal on hosting for like $2/month when you're just starting out. I did too! But the second your blog starts gaining traction, those budget plans turn into bottlenecks. Shared servers, low memory, and slow load times will quietly strangle your traffic. Trust me, I was there.

3. Slow Site = Fewer Visitors (and a Whole Lotta Frustration)

No one wants to wait five seconds for a page to load anymore. Google doesn’t like it either. Slow speeds equal lower search rankings AND frustrated readers who bounce before they even see your content. Hosting plays a major role in site speed, and bad hosting means slow everything.

4. You Can’t Grow If Your Site Keeps Crashing

One of the most frustrating things about my old hosting was how often my site went down. A post would go viral (yay!) and then... BOOM. My site would crash (not yay). If your hosting can’t handle spikes in traffic, you're leaving money and growth on the table.

5. Bad Hosting Eats Your Time Like a Hungry Gremlin

I spent HOURS trying to troubleshoot tech issues that weren’t actually my fault—they were just symptoms of bad hosting. Old servers, overcrowded shared spaces, random outages... it's exhausting. Good hosting means fewer fires to put out and more time doing what you love (aka creating amazing content).

6. Good Hosting Helps You Pass Core Web Vitals

You know that fun little set of metrics Google uses to decide how well your site performs? Yeah, Core Web Vitals are a BIG deal for SEO. Fast load times, reliable uptime, and overall site health are all tied directly to your hosting. Upgrade your hosting, and you give yourself a fighting chance to show up in search results.

7. Want to Qualify for Ad Networks? You’ll Need Speed

When I was working to get into Mediavine, I realized my slow, crash-prone site was holding me back. And now with Mediavine’s Journey, the entry point is just 10K sessions—but you STILL need a solid site to get there. Premium ad networks want clean, speedy, professional sites. Hosting is a huge part of that puzzle.

8. Uptime Matters More Than You Think

It’s not just about avoiding crashes during viral moments. Random outages (even five minutes here or there) affect user trust, search rankings, and your own sanity. With Deep Roots Hosting, I know they’re watching my site like a hawk—even on weekends and evenings. I once had a site go down on a Sunday night, and they had it back up before I could finish panicking.

9. Migration Is a Pain—So Start with a Solid Host If You Can

Switching hosts can be a total headache—but not if you’re with Deep Roots. They handled my migration like total pros (I didn’t lift a finger), and that support was SUCH a relief. If you're new and can afford it, start with a good host. Save yourself the drama later.

10. Better Hosting Is an Investment, Not an Expense

I’ve been with Deep Roots since 2018, and not ONCE have I regretted spending more than bargain-bin prices. You can start small with their early plans (based on visits, not how many sites you run—LOVE that), and scale up as your traffic grows. The cost is more than offset when you start earning with ads.

11. Your Blog Deserves to Be Taken Seriously (and So Do You!)

Bottom line? Your blog is your business. And businesses need reliable infrastructure. Choosing high-quality hosting shows you're serious. It sets the tone for growth, professionalism, and peace of mind. And you’re SO worth that, my friend.

11. Your Blog Deserves to Be Taken Seriously (and So Do You!)

Wrap-Up: If you're still on starter hosting and dreaming of real traffic, real income, and real results, upgrading your blog hosting might just be the game-changer you need. I can say, hands-down, that switching to Deep Roots Hosting was one of the smartest decisions I’ve ever made as a blogger. Fast, reliable, helpful, and kind? Yes please. Don’t wait until you're drowning in downtime to make the switch—invest in your success today.
