How I Use LeadPages To Split Test Creatives and Words For Popup Boxes

I LOVE using LeadPages to split test my creatives and words for FREE! I just use multiple popup boxes that show up when people leave and see which ones perform the best.

I have to say that I am ALWAYS surprised but that there is no arguing with real live data from actual visitors.

In case you are just checking out split testing, functionally what you do is have an “original” version and different variations that you test against that one for effectiveness. In this test I had an original and two different versions that I tested. Results are below!

LeadBoxes

One of the technologies available in LeadPages is LeadBoxes. These little darlings allow you to make a popup or exit message to people as they leave your website. The cool thing is that they are not a whole page, just a click button and your visitor can put name and email in right away!

That is what I am using for this experiment!

I use Infusionsoft to data capture and LeadPages on the front end.

Popup #1

So my first popup was what I used exclusively for a few months and I REALLY love it. It seemed to be converting pretty well but then I was going to do a Facebook ad campaign and thought…why not check out some of my creatives here before I pay good money!

Call Me Crazy LeadBox | LeadPages Split Test 1

Variation #1

This is variation #1 and is still that same look and feel. Now, you may be asking yourself why all the pink and chicks. First off my site gets far more women than men visiting (by almost 2 to 1).

And secondly, the men I get don't seem to mind seeing cute girls, a fact that LeadPages talks about in their really cool webinars!

Variation #2

Last but not least is this one, still a cute girl but more masculine colors!

Drumroll please…and the winner is #2 by a fairly significant margin! There is a 12.35% chance that it will sign up more people to my newsletter than the “call me maybe one will”. That said, the more manly one is less likely to convert people.

Wrapup

To say that I love LeadPages is an understatement. Over the years I have tested (tried like hell) to figure out all different kinds of landing page plugins, writing html landing pages and even just switching out copy on my normal pages without sidebars, but I have NEVER found anything that is easier to use or more effective than LeadPages.

Here is another post I wrote about them > Customizing LeadPages, Yes They Can Look Pretty and Different
