I think the guidelines you posted on social networking should be mandatory reading when joining Twitter. The fastest way to lose followers is to bombard them with affiliate links and no real content. Its all about connecting. Great post.

Hi Tara,

Erik J Heels (who's forgotten more about this than I'll ever know) posted a really useful "guide on a napkin" (literally) of how to set up ping.fm and other stuff to simply your web of social networks. His setup is more complex than mine - it involves friendfeed and other site. But it's a great guide and you can extract what you need from it.

YAY! I am doing some of this for the newsletter today and will definitely check out the site you mentioned! Right now I have my blogs going to tweets and then to Plaxo but could use a hand on getting the stuff onto facebook and linked in...:) Thanks for reading...T

Hi Tara,

Nice post with good guidelines - thanks. I note you have even more blogs running than me - and I run very short of time myself.

One thing I've found to help out a little productivity wise is ping.fm

You can quickly set it up to simultaneously post status updates to Linkedin, Plaxo, Facebook, etc. Saves me abou 15mins whenever I do a status update. Doesn;t sound like much but boy, it adds up.

Ian
